Baby Safety and Essential Oils

Always Play It Safe

Essential oils must be treated with care at all times and many of them carry contra-indications as to their use, such as not using them during pregnancy or on babies. However, there are some essential oils that are not only safe for baby but are also good for baby.

Appropriate Essential Oils

Some essential oils that can be used moderately in baby care are Lavender, Sweet Orange, Neroli, Chamomile, Geranium, and Rose.  The list doesn't end here but these are the more common and acceptable oils if used carefully in low doses.

Babies don't get very dirty, so for the first few months it's better to limit their exposure to just warm, gentle baths for general cleansing purposes.

** Please perform due diligence before using essential oils.   Take the time to read up and educate yourself on the applications that essential oils can be used for, safe methods to employ them, and what effects they can have.  Talk to your doctor and/or certified massage therapist, aromatherapist or other healthcare practitioner.
